Sprint Galaxy Nexus rumored to launch on April 22nd
Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus may launch on April 22nd according to a purported internal document obtained by The Verge. In terms of hardware, the handset is identical to the Verizon Wireless version, however Sprint customers will have access to Google Wallet. The internal document also points to Sprint’s first 4G LTE phone being the LG Viper, which will be available just ahead of the Galaxy Nexus on April 15th.�The handset features a 4-inch WVGA display with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 5-megapixel rear camera. Nokia takes aim at Apple?s iPhone with new viral campaign [video]
Nokia launched a viral advertising campaign this past weekend to support the launch of its upcoming Lumia 900 smartphone. A website called Smartphone Beta Test targets Apple’s iPhone through a series of videos that remind users of “antennagate,” the device’s fragile design and the trouble of using the handset in direct sunlight. The website features Saturday Night Live alumnus Chris Parnell impatiently waiting for a countdown to expire, which is scheduled to run out on April 6th. While there is no mention of Nokia or the Lumia 900, WPCentral discovered a single Java script link-back to Nokia.com in the website’s source code, more or less confirming the company’s involvement. Google Drive leak suggests 5GB of free cloud storage
Rumors surrounding Google?s cloud storage service are�ramping up as we move closer toward the product’s rumored release date. The service will apparently be called Google Drive and is similar to Dropbox, which allows users to store files on cloud servers and access them from computers and mobile devices. According to a leaked screenshot obtained by TalkAndroid, Google Drive will offer 5GB of free storage�instead of the previously rumored 1GB. The image also reaffirms that files can be accessed through computers, mobile phones, tablets and via a web browser, and it will allow users to edit a document in one place that will automatically be updated in all locations. While speaking at the Competitive Carriers Global Expo, Sprint’s senior vice president of networks Bob Azzi said that while the company has experienced success with its WiMAX handsets, it will not launch any additional WiMAX devices. The announcement comes after Sprint previously confirmed that it would continue to offer 4G WiMAX devices through 2012 and support the service through 2015. Oracle rejects Google?s offer to settle patent suit with Android revenue share
Google on Tuesday offered to pay Oracle a percentage of its Android revenue if Oracle wins a patent infringement suit set to be tried soon.�Google offered to pay the company roughly $2.8 million in damages on the two patents remaining in the case, giving�Oracle 0.5% of Android revenue on one patent until it expires this December, and 0.015% on a second patent until it expires in April 2018.�Reuters�reports that Oracle rejected the offer, however, claiming it was too low.�Earlier this month, a U.S. judge in San Francisco scheduled the trial between the two companies for April 16th. Google generates four times more revenue from iPhone than Android
According to legal documents for its upcoming hearing with Oracle, between 2008 and 2011 Android generated less than $550 million in revenue for Google. Apple’s iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, which use Google Maps and search, generated more than four times as much revenue for the Mountain View-based company during the same time frame, The Guardian reported on Thursday. Earlier this weak, Australian regulators claimed that Apple was misleading consumers with false promotions and advertisements for�its new “4G” iPad tablet. While the new iPad supports some 4G LTE networks, users in most regions are stuck with HSPA and HSPA+ 3G networks. After the allegation, Apple began to offer refunds to Australian iPad owners who felt duped by the company’s 4G claims. Now, regulators in the U.K. have confirmed that they are looking into various complaints regarding the new iPad, Pocket-lint�reports. The Wall Street Journal is also reporting that Sweden’s Consumer Agency is considering an investigation into whether Apple?s “4G” marketing�is misleading as well. Social Games Developer Kabam Buys Gravity Bear for Undisclosed Sum
Kabam, a hardcore social games developer, has acquired Gravity Bear in a deal that looks nothing like Zynga's recent big-ticket purchase of OMGPOP. Sharp and Foxconn enter into manufacturing partnership
Sharp on Tuesday announced that is has entered into an manufacturing partnership with Foxconn�that will see the manufacturing giant take a 10% stake in the Japanese electronics company. Hon Hai has invested nearly 67 billion yen ($809 million) in Sharp in exchange for roughly 121.65 million new shares, which will be spread out between four Foxconn companies. Sharp CEO Takashi Okuda said, “Until now we have handled all of our R&D and manufacturing, but going forward we will need to include partnerships in our approach,” pledging to leverage both companies’ strengths to get products to market efficiently. House Approves Revised Crowdfunding Bill, Sends It to Obama
The U.S. House of Representatives today passed with a vote of 380-41 a final version of the JOBS Act, revised to conform with the Senate version. The new bill reduces the amount that unaccredited investors are allowed to contribute to "crowdfunding" for small companies. It also pushes the maximum number of shareholders a private company can have without falling under financial reporting regulations to 2,000, from 500.

Australian regulators claim Apple?s iPad is misleading consumers
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Tuesday claimed that Apple is using misleading promotions for its new iPad tablet, Reuters reported. The ACCC will ask an Australian high court on Wednesday to order the Cupertino-based company to make customers aware of the true technical capabilities of the device, correct its current advertising and refund any affected buyers. Apple’s newest iPad can utilize 4G LTE networks, however it can only do so in North America. The company has still advertised the device as a “4G” tablet in countries where it is not compatible. Australian carrier Telstra offers the country’s only 4G LTE network, but it uses different spectrum than carriers in the United States and Canada. Read

Online porn may soon be banned in Egypt
Censorship and the Internet are topics that have gone hand in hand since the birth of the World Wide Web more than 20 years ago. Proponents of various levels of censorship often target online pornography with their efforts, and a new report suggests censors may soon get their way in Egypt. Only 6% of iPad app sessions use 3G or 4G data [infographic]
Apple’s new iPad has already seen massive success, selling over 3 million units in less than four days of availability. The tablet features an updated A5X chip, a beautiful Retina display and 4G LTE connectivity. Due to the blazing fast 4G speeds on Apple’s iPad Wi-Fi + 4G models, it is estimated that half of all new iPads sold will be LTE enabled. Analytics firm Localytics has countered previous reports, however, stating that only 6% of all iPad sessions using apps with its tracking software installed connect to the Internet through a cellular network. Sharp and LG to increase iPad panel shipments in Q2
After reportedly failing to meet Apple’s quality requirements, Sharp and LG Display have now apparently begun shipping a small volume of displays for the new iPad, DigiTimes reported on Friday. “The supply of panels for the new iPad has improved recently, with LG Display and Sharp to ramp up their shipments in the second quarter, which will also result in a significant increase in shipments of the new iPads in the quarter and onwards,” Digitimes’s�unnamed industry source said. T-Mobile to cut 5% of workforce, close seven call centers
T-Mobile is looking to restructure the company and in doing so, it will cut 5% of its workforce and closing seven call centers over the next three months, The Wall Street Journal reports. The carrier said the job cuts were necessary and will help fund its planned $4 billon 4G LTE network.
